Led work with House Democrats on Oversight and Investigation matters for Tylenol, Talc Baby Powder and Drug Pricing. Strategy included shaping the scope of the investigation and communicating appropriately with the media. Said communication shaped congressional agenda on investigations. Goal was to prevent testimony in most cases. Private and informative meetings were preferred as stock price and brand reputation could have been damaged unnecessarily. Developed and executed federal legislative and strategies for several pharmaceutical teams per the goals of the following business and product lines – Mental Health (esketamine launch and suicide prevention) including a partnership with the Veterans Adminstration to combat suicide, HIV andInfectious Disease (global vaccine and appropriations) including education and an awareness campaign around clinical trials in South Africa and Cardio Vascular Health (health disparities and Peripheral Artery Disease). Primary focus was to create immediate and long term legislative and regulatory solutions for priorities as defined collectively by Government Affairs and Johnson& Johnson. Created a coalition to maintain six protected class mandates which isolated and treated differently specific therapies in oncology, immunology, HIV and other rare diseases. Coalition included pharmaceutical and biologic companies and patient groups. Advocated the interests of PhRMA and its member companies on Capitol Hill. Portfolio included: Biosimilars education, PDUFA implementation and ADAP Appropriations and compulsory license protection. PDUFA passage in the House of Representatives- including DTC provision; SCHIP passage in the House; Part D implementation through targeted support of key Members. Outreach was focused particularly on House Democrats. Created and gained Board approval for Diversity Working Group which helps to reshape the image of the industry within the African-American and Hispanic-American communities through a three-tiered approach to educate Congressional Black and Hispanic Caucus Members and their constituents on industry priorities including Clinical Trials participation and Patient Assistance Programs.
