As a 2024 E. Gordon Grau Fellow with the University of Hawaiʻi Sea Grant College Program, my focus is on developing a comprehensive needs assessment and monitoring guide for Contaminants of Emerging Concern (CECs). My work involves identifying and addressing current knowledge gaps related to CECs in Hawaiʻi and the U.S.-Affiliated Pacific Islands, while also reviewing global research and management strategies. By tailoring best practices to the unique needs of the Pacific, I aim to enhance the protection of our region's ecosystems and coastal communities from the impacts of pollution.In collaboration with local agencies, I am committed to contributing to efforts that safeguard food and water security across the area. I am also passionate about supporting public outreach and community-based education on CECs, while developing strategies for future monitoring and management.

Primarily completing contamination mapping and profiling based on the various historic land usages of the Puʻuloa (Pearl Harbor) region. Additionally engaging in ciguatera research, coastal contamination on neighbor island reef systems, Pacific Islands marine debris outreach and education, and handling logistical tasks, supply ordering, etc. for ongoing projects.

As a (re)Learning Educator with Sustainable Coastlines, I have performed in-person presentations on marine debris at local schools and community organizations and educational beach cleanups on Oʻahu, as well as tablings to represent the organization. In addition to educational activities, I have also helped with day-of logistics for the large-scale beach and neighborhood cleanups orchestrated by the SCH staff. These responsibilities have included set-up and break-down, check-in, educational booths, managing cleanup supplies, supplying first aid supplies, orchestrating activities for kids in attendance, distributing food and checking in with vendors at the events, and, of course, performing the beach cleanup/land restoration itself.

MPH Capstone: Using Hawaiʻi’s Behavioral Risk Surveillance Survey (BRFSS) to estimate spearfishing prevalence and associations with demographic and health factorsVolunteer, researcher, and facilitator in the Oceans and Human Health Initiative (OHHI) at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. Facilitated community systems mapping sessions with the goal of developing a comprehensive systems map of the complex relationships between people and oceans in a coastal community. Partially responsible for qualitative data entry. Conducted a literature review on blue-space interventions to cross-reference with our systems map. This research was presented at the 2023 EcoSummit Conference in Gold Coast, Australia.

Intern and marine toxicology researcher under Dr. Robert Richmond. Completed undergraduate Thesis titled "The Impact of Perfluorooctanoic Acid (PFOA) Exposure on Hawaiian Corals." Used both qualitative and cellular diagnostic techniques with clinical biomarkers to determine sublethal indicators of stress to common Hawaiian coral species with exposure to contaminants of emerging concern.This work was presented at the 2023 EcoSummit Conference in Gold Coast, Australia.
