Chengetedzai Depository Company Limited was formed to establish and operate a central securities depository (CSD) for the Zimbabwe securities industry.A CSD is a company that operates an electronic book entry system to record and maintain securities and to register their transfer. Securities are maintained in electronic form in the investor’s account just like how money is kept in the form of electronic credits in any bank account. In a CSD system, ownership will be changed as soon as securities move from one investor account to another. The system is purely a settlement vehicle for transactions that have been traded on a registered securities exchange.Key Areas• Zimbabwe Stock Exchange (ZSE) daily equity settlement• Daily monitoring of the Automated Trading System (ATS)/CSD systems performance• Dematerialization and Re-materialization of Equities and Fixed Income Instruments• Authorisation of Equities Dematerialization and Re-materialization • Devising and implementing internal control and verification procedures for the department• Share register reconciliations with Transfer Secretaries• Ensuring that CDC Rules and Operational Procedures are strictly followed and adhered to• Ensuring compliance with the legal provisions relating to the functions performed by the Operations Department• Assisting in the review and update of CDC Rules and Operational Procedures• Assisting in planning for operational enhancements, updates and growth in line with business requirements• Liaising with Transfers Secretaries, CDC Participants and Settlement Banks in relation to the operations of CDC• End-to-end testing of all new CSD system modules and products before introduction to the market• Weekly and Monthly CSD performance analysis and updates• System Functions demonstrations and training sessions to CSD participants
