Western Chances Scholar
The Western Chances Scholarship is a financial bursary provided to students who live in Western Melbourne and demonstrate a high potential. In Year 9, I was fortunate enough to be a recipient for categories of music, debating and academics. The scholarship has acted as a massive financial aid for me to access a greater and more holistic education. The donors were so generous that I was able to renew the scholarship through 2020, 2021 and also in 2022.

My experience with the WSCACU was extremely rewarding, as I was exposed to a new side of the army through cadets. Working throughout the year to be promoted from the position of recruit to cadet, I had to learn basic first aid, communication through radio, navigation using analog compasses and many other essential skills. Attending regular bivouacs and the annual camp at Puckapunyal Military Area, this year with the unit also enforced the importance of chain of command, as well as teamwork skills.
