Currently within this role I coordinate a team to spearhead the key functional administrative planning of circa 200 MoD Engineering staff. Accountable for auditing departments, providing monthly data to the CEO and applying HR regulatory guidelines as best practice. As an engineer myself I’ve been able to design, implement and control all induction training and Key Performance Indicators, working to mitigate risk, increase efficiency and reduce pinch points across a large Defence Training Infrastructure and utilise fundamental quality assurance principles to analyse, negotiate and facilitate the transformation of ineffective and under-performing HR functions into a target driven strategic support mechanism. I am an advisor to line managers, providing information on disciplinary measures and manning issues, as well as return to work processes and welfare issues. Subsequently I have been able to fomalise Diversity and Inclusivity business processes for a full organisation implementation and acceptance from key stakeholders. Further to this, I consider myself a person at the forefront of change management a good working culture; here I nurture and develop junior and inexperienced staff, providing clear and concise reports involving succession planning and full career management services to ensure accuracy in qualifications and ensure Continued Professional Development was achieved.

During my time in this role, I oversaw the production of Defence Systems Approach to Training (DSAT) Instruction Specifications across engineering training courses. This meant being actively involved in the specific training reviews that provided assurances to meet customer and stakeholder training requirements prior to sign-off and course delivery from junior exec level. Overall managerial accountability for training resources totaling £3m and throughput of 260 engineering students per annum, coupled with ensuring fair assessment of student progress through examinations and close support of varying learning styles or difficulties.Responsible for leading tasks in support of training and maintaining a duty of care for the servicing of all equipment in a timely manner due to the high volume of students the department supports. Analysing Risk Assessments to fulfill all duties in accordance with all relevant policies and legislations, including airworthiness. I ensured my team’s adherence to laid out standards and developed their awareness to Human Factors engineering reporting within a continuous improvement and ISO governed organisation. By doing this, it improved a healthy culture of positive engineering reporting, which in turn helped improve training and Standard Operating Procedures.

Successfully managed staff in a variety of settings, including public engagement, to provide high standard career management services and early analysis of potential candidates for further selection within a military setting. As a mentor, I was able to deal with individuals to set out achievable goals and manage outcomes in line with expectations. Overseeing the correct implementation of early testing for all potential candidates, ensuring quality assurance was at the forefront and implementing continuous improvement techniques to enhance future outreach strategies. Not only was this role for the engagement of young adults, but I also provided opportunities for staff to personally and professionally develop. This enabled me to assess and analyse capabilities of staff, reporting on performance and feedback empathically to highlight areas for improvement.

Within this role I maintained overall managerial supervision and accountability for circa 15 multi-faceted aircraft engineers. Possessing astute analytical abilities, I was responsible for assessing the suitability to perform engineering activities against individual core competency data, coupled with ensuring engineers were nominated for relevant courses to maximise efficiency along with personal and professional development of each member of staff. Adept at producing effective results under Military and Civilian Aviation Authorities governed by Mil 145 and 147. Supervising all aspects of complex engineering activities; providing solutions with intricate methodologies in order to maintain operational performance in line with strategic business aims.Regularly liaising with multiple internal and external agencies to remedy ongoing engineering issues and embody the modification of high value assets. Consistent in the delivery of all technical duties, performing to laid down procedures and remaining fully aware of Human Factors Engineering and the need for reporting identified occurrences.This role saw me manage scheduled maintenance along with being able to react swiftly to arising maintenance issues on operationally vital aviation assets. I had to ensure that the turnaround of equipment was done so in a timely manner, legally certifying all assets as serviceable, along with instigating necessary stage checks prior to sign off.Utilising existing engineering knowledge to better ensure quality assurance of engineering assets and supply activities, having oversight for multiple areas of responsibility and provide lead governance in accordance with local procedures and guidelines.
