Lawrence has assisted clients on issues in all 50 states on matters involving income and franchise taxes, sales and use taxes, gross receipts taxes, capital-based franchise taxes. Additionally, Lawrence has assisted clients on issues in all major California cities involving business license taxes.

Reviewed and directed tax examinations resulting in assessments ranging from $100 thousand to well over $1 million, involving multi-national corporations in the financial services industry, manufacturing and agriculture. Designed and rewrote the chief tax procedure manual used by California FTB auditors as a procedural guide to conducting tax examinations. Teamed with the legal department in resolving appeals, litigation and settlement of examinations.Researched, anaylyzed and drafted opinions for specialized tax issues including: constitutional nexus, non-business income, sales factor treasury receipts, and business credits
