Senior Radiation Protection Technician
CurrentSenior ANSI 3.1 qualified Radiation Protection Technician. Working knowledge of both Pressurized Water Reactors (PWRs) and Boiling Water Reactors (BWRs). Qualifications include:ALARA analysis and planning to estimate and minimize radiological exposure to the workforce.Writing, planning and tracking Radiation Work Permits, temporary shielding requests.Calibration of portable and stationary radiological instrumentation and installed plant radiation monitors,On the Job Training and Task Performance EvaluationIssuing and processing dosimetry for staff, contractors and visitors,Performance and review of radiological surveys, contamination surveys and airborne activity, Remote monitoring using telemetry systems,Providing radiological job coverage for dry cask storage requiring worker entry into high risk areas such as High Radiation Areas (HRAs) and Locked High Radiation Areas (LHRAs), Survey of dry fuel storage modules to ensure compliance with acceptance criteria.Gamma-spectroscopic analysis of soil, air samples, smears and other samples for environmental release or identification of isotopes of concern.
