• Led the creation of short and medium-term plans for mining activities in a mine producing over 5000t tonnes of tungsten per year, representing a major portion of global production.• Responsible for controlling the blend of ore from the pit to meet specification across 5 separate criteria to allow for processing by a plant with challenging input requirements.• Helped optimise mine performance through capture, processing and analysis of production statistics. Used daily, weekly and monthly dashboards to ensure production matched budget and target.• Managed the work of the Mining Services Contractor, ensuring delivery against the mine plan and adherence to industry best practices.

• Worked on site at FQM’s Sentinel copper mine, a large scale highly modernised open pit mining operation producing over 280,000 tonnes of ore per day. Time was split between working in-pit and working within the technical services department.• Built and managed drill & blast QAQC systems and presented analysis to management team weekly to support major quality improvement drive at the mine. Followed up by acting as shift supervisor to the 15 man charge up crew with a focus on eliminating QAQC errors.• Reconciled mining activities of both owner operated equipment and mining contractors. Reduced non-compliance events by over 50% by working with machine operators and dispatchers. Streamlined and improved the processes used to perform the reconciliation.• Promoted a mature safety culture on the mine site, leading by example as an expat worker.• Assisted with drill & blast design and participated in several trials of new blasting techniques to improve results.

• Completed a year-long graduate program for a specialist consultancy focused on mine engineering, project evaluation and feasibility implementation for clients with hard rock underground operations.• Part of a small team responsible for measurement and management of construction progress at a 2.5 Billion USD project in the DRC. Performed design changes in a high-pressure environment to support the team on site. Running full analysis of the benefit, cost and timeframe of each change to maximise project value.• Delivered a scoping study, including financial analysis to evaluate the potential of recommissioning two Australian nickel operations using modern mechanised mining methods. Gaining insight into the process behind the design and scheduling of mining operations.

• Worked underground and in the technical office for Mas Errázuriz, the development contractors at a gold-silver mine in the Atacama Desert.• Time was split between job shadowing operators and supervisors and an improvement project on drill bit usage rates. Analysis identified trends with specific operators and drilling jumbos, and produced improvements to the company’s standard operating procedure for drilling.• Studied Spanish during my 2nd year of university in order to complete the internship.
