In the Fall of 2011, Lawrence tread water in a pool for 24 consecutive hours without stopping, taking a break, or touching the sides. He did this to raise college tuition money for a fallen comrade's daughter. In amazement at his dedication and commitment to a friend passed, hundreds of people stopped by to witness the event. Over the 24 hour period, Lawrence battled exhaustion and hypothermia but refused to quit. When the clock was counting down and culminated with the crowd shouting 3, 2, 1, and erupting into cheers, a small team of people had to assist Lawrence out of the pool. Before being shuttled off to get checked out by the medical staff, it had been announced that Lawrence had raised more than 25 thousand dollars to assist with her college education. Lawrence DeMonico defines the term, "Quiet Professional".
