-Assume overall responsibility for the division-Direct staff on day-to-day operations-Be the point of contact for all contracts, partners, customers and company representatives-Hire trucks based on needs across Newfoundland-Hire unionized loader operators-Hire traffic control, cranes and extra union labour when necessary-Hire seasonal ad-hoc staff for province-wide operations-Ensure loading, lifting and weighing equipment is maintained, inspected and certified for use-Ensure ports to be used are suitable for salt operations and available to the company & and scheduled-Work with vessel operator and salt supplier in planning vessel discharge operations as required-Coordinate the vessel discharge and delivery of road salt in the Port of St. John's and various Ports throughout the province including booking the berth, arranging/coordinating truck schedules, arranging labour, coordinating delivery with customers and planning travel details as required.-Arrange accommodations for the mobile operations team-Discharge a self-offloading vessel or general cargo vessel equipped with cranes-Track delivery volumes to ensure accuracy and efficiency-Ensure all trucks & contractors have up-to-date C.O.R. status & supporting documentation-Coordinate the maintenance and cleaning of the Pier facility-Compile activity reports and shipping documents as required-Oversee the salt quality sampling process-Monitor weather conditions that have the potential to affect operations-Monitor the receiving and shipping function and simultaneous operations at dock facilities to ensure safe and efficient operations-Arrange & and direct stockpiling and tarping operations at the Port of St. John's-Liaise with other divisions to share insight and expertise
