Profile bio

About Lawrence Prebble

I am a BA Honours Fine Art graduate from Central Saint Martins. At this college, I previously studied for the Diploma In Professional Studies and Foundation Diploma in Art and Design courses. Through working on my courses and being a practicing artist, I have developed extensive knowledge and familiarity of fine art, fashion, design, as well as, a keen interest in history, materials and sustainability. I currently work at The Design Museum as a museum assistant. I have gained experience in the creative industry by working in several internships, at high fashion companies such as; Mary Katrantzou and Preen by Thornton Bregazzi. In various departments, like, atelier, embroidery, product development, fabric and sales. Traversing these departments meant that I was involved in each stage of the design process. As a result, I developed versatile technical skills in machine and hand sewing, surface design, social media, fabric sourcing as well as helping to coordinate multiple collection showrooms in London and Paris respectively. I have worked in numerous voluntary positions. Volunteering at fine art organisations such as; Auto Italia Southeast, Kunstraum, The Holburne Museum, The Design Museum and currently The Fashion and Textile Museum and The Hunterian Museum. Working in this environment has enabled me to develop technical skills in archiving, curation, critical thinking and writing.Ultimately, I would like to consolidate my work, experience and interests. I hope to find museum collection opportunities, that are centred in archiving, curation and writing, which complement my career goals and aspirations. To help represent, recount and discuss practitioners I admire. In addition to this, I have an interest in helping with humanitarian and philanthropic work. As I would like to find an outlet where I can provide charitable acts and services that aid other people, as well as, society at large.

Listed skills include Pattern Drafting, Pattern Cutting, Hand Embroidery, Drawing, and 24 others.
