Cyanobacteria are linked to a wide variety of neurological diseases in humans. There is mounting evidence that these bio-accumulative environmental toxins are causing ALS, Alzheimer’s, and immune damaging illnesses in humans. More research is needed in developing and expanding our models for testing for Cyanobacteria, and possibly for the prediction of the CyanoHAB’s (algae blooms). Global climatic changes, increased sunlight, and warmer waters may be contributing to this bacterium growing faster each year. Cyanobacteria, also known as blue-green algae, can grow in any type of water and are photosynthetic. These algae have been found among the oldest fossils on earth and are also the most populous living organism on the planet. CyanoHABs can block sunlight and use up all the oxygen in the water, killing other plants and animals. CyanoHAB’s are algae blooms that threaten people, animals, or the environment. They are dangerous for many reasons. Cyanobacteria that form CyanoHAB’s can produce toxins that are among the most powerful natural poisons known. These toxins have no known antidotes. Children and pets exhibit symptoms of toxic exposure from CyanoHABs because of their size and weight. Cyanobacteria assiduously progresses in adults until the toxin exhibits a chronic symptomatic neurological failure such as Alzheimer’s. We are in the process of developing a remediation process that will hopefully reverse the harmful toxins causing this global environmental crisis.

Responsibilities included the acquisition of foundational and governmental funding for the operation of a rapidly expanding legal services agency, providing 7000 services to refugees and asylum seekers each year.
