Layla Ashley Email and Phone Number

Layla Ashley is a Stamps Scholar and Sally McDonnell Barksdale Honors College student at the University of Mississippi. Layla is earning a Bachelor of Arts with a double major in Public Policy Leadership and African American Studies. Outside of the classroom, Layla is a member of the Tassels Chapter of Mortar Board, the University of Mississippi's Society for Blacks in Political Studies, the University of Mississippi NAACP College Chapter, the Ole Miss Vietnamese-American Student Association, UM E.S.T.E.E.M., and Period at the University of Mississippi. Growing as a leader on campus, Layla serves as the Vice President of Advocacy for Period at the University of Mississippi and co-founded FemMiss: Empowering Feminists at the University of Mississippi.At Gwendolyn Brooks College Prep, Layla worked on issues like period poverty, gender-race bias in professional settings, and financial literacy programming for minority communities. Layla remains dedicated to social and economic advocacy through education, policy reform, and civic engagement. Some of her current interests include equitable access to higher education, disparities in healthcare, voting rights, and the promotion of diversity, equity, and inclusion.After earning her undergraduate degree, Layla plans on attending law school. She aims to create spaces for conversations of diverse opinions and create resources that build social and economic equity.
