Profile bio

About Layla Daud

I am a passionate and driven student at Indiana University pursuing a career in Healthcare Management seeking to improve healthcare accessibility by developing solutions that address disparities in both developed and underserved communities. I am working toward minors in both Business in Spanish. I currently hold the Seal of Biliteracy in Spanish, awarded by the state of Missouri. During my 14 years at Mary Institute and Saint Louis Country Day School (2009–2023), I thrived in a rigorous, college-preparatory environment that emphasizes student success, high standards, and continuous feedback. This education not only shaped my academic abilities but also instilled a deep sense of confidence as I embarked on the next chapter of my education. As I continue my academic journey, I hope to gain a better understanding of the U.S. Healthcare System while utilizing the numerous opportunities that Indiana University provides for its future professionals. I have been fascinated with the U.S. Healthcare system through first-hand personal and professional experiences. Growing up alongside two physician parents, I have witnessed the difficulties that the hispanic population continues to face in the United States, such a language barrier, access to proper medical care, and patient-physician relations. Being part of a minority population has allowed me to appreciate and advocate for minorities in the United States. I also had the opportunity to shadow different physicians during my senior year of high school, viewing real struggles that Latin Americans face in the Health Care System. While my academic success is my number one priority, I enjoy running and being outdoors in my free time. I started running during the summer of 2023 and participated in my first half marathon on July 29th, 2023. Ever since then, it has been something that allows me to feel euphoric and a mere break from reality. My next challenge emerges in April 2025, where I will run Waukesha’s Trailbreaker Marathon! Additionally, I also enjoy traveling and experiencing new communities all over the world. I enjoy exploration and always doing the impossible. My goal as a student is to delve into the professional world and my passions for the future. I am committed to exploring the field of health care from the administrative perspective. I push my limits every day to maximize the capability I know I have to make a difference in the world. I believe my abundant love for the well-being of others will serve me extremely well as I continue to grow as a professional and an active member of society.
