For the past 20 years, I have worked in the municipal and nonprofit parks and recreation sector where I have grown from leading a crew of part-time parks maintenance workers to specializing as a recreation coordinator for districts with a population of over 100,000 people to my current position where I have the responsibility for managing a local aquatics facility with one full-time employee, 50 part-time employees, a $1.5 million operational budget. In this position, I am accountable for the maintenance and management of our entire facility as well as surrounding splash pads. Most importantly what I do is, create a culture that helps manage these operations which includes: the establishment and maintenance of effective working relationships with elected officials, staff, advisory boards, special interest groups, agencies, police/fire and individuals, revenue management philosophies, and budget strategies that maximize and leverage financial resources while aiming to lower how much we take from the general fund. The agencies I have worked for have always seen me as an asset as I not only worked to grow my career but helped them to sustain success even after I left.
