Since 2010, I’ve devoted my time at work to helping water and wastewater folks lower the energy footprint of the systems they design and operate. We do this through workshops, training, and engagement with O&M staff, engineers, managers, and elected officials. Believe it or not, I use my engineering, construction, and legal background regularly in this work. And, even better, it’s fun! I would love to learn about your system and help you take control of your energy consumption, rather than simply adding 3% to your budget every year. Let’s connect!I suppose I should have been upfront about this from the start, but mind you: I’m a nerd. Band geek. Model trains. My “recommended for you” on Netflix is always a documentary. I read history books . . . on purpose. Straight A student growing up – except for that B+ in the first semester of 9th grade English (given to teach a lesson by a grumpy instructor because we were having too much fun– not that I’m bitter.) I try to temper the nerdiness with humor and some “kinda cool” stuff, like motorcycles, guitars, and shooting sports. But mostly I like – no – I LOVE – to learn. And that’s how a mechanical engineer who wanted to be a factory GP race team tech ends up with a resume that includes everything from water and wastewater design, construction and startup to patent law and land use litigation to energy efficiency and demand side management. At each stage, I’ve learned new ideas, new hard lessons, whole new subject matter, and gained another chance to see how seemingly disparate fields are connected.
