KeyBio’s technology platform discovers drug targets in the tumor microenvironment by identifying germline genetic mutations that drive survival in cancer patients.► Programmed AI Quality Control (AIQC), an open source, Python platform for declarative, multi-modal deep learning. By eliminating data wrangling scripts, AIQC reduces the amount of time required to train and evaluate neural networks by 90%. Honors: grant from Python Software Foundation, presented technology at ISMB and PyData, TensorFlow contributor award.► Discovered novel biomarkers of overall survival (OS) in cancer cohorts through prognostic analysis of the germline DNA (WES) of 7 solid tumor indications from the NCI’s TCGA biobank in collaboration with oncologists from Dana-Farber and The Broad. Honors: presented research at AACR and ASCO, won MALSI competition, finalist in Merck's accelerator.► Developed a scalable system for bioinformatics workflow orchestration in the cloud using Apache Airflow and AWS Batch. The breadth of workflows encompassed various omics (DNA variant calling, RNA-seq alignment), species (human, mouse decontamination), and cell origins (peripheral blood, tumor xenografts).

Julia is an open source, scientific programming language. JuliaHub is the commercial cloud platform for distributed Julia analytics.► Defined the existing product = Equipped sales team with: [a] JuliaHub product deck that explains the value of each component of the platform and proactively overcomes pre-sales obstacles like compliance, [b] pricing model and a price sheet that groups product packages into tiers aimed at market segments.► Defined the future product (roadmap) = Identified defensible position within the competitive landscape and put a roadmap to get us there. Evaluated platform architecture to identify problems to solve in: user mgmt, data mgmt, infrastructure reliability, and reproducible analytics. Quantifiably ranked customer pain points via weighted survey of decision makers & power users. Worked with compliance team to consolidate 21 CFR Part 11 regulations into concise remediation requirements.► Got people rowing in the same direction = Built a productive and trusting partnership with engineering leadership and team leads. Coached executives in defining quantifiable company goals for each department in OKR format. Implemented an agile project management system. Wrote epics (UI mockups, backend db schemas) to put the roadmap into action. Successfully recruited senior professionals from my network.

JupyterLab is the open source, notebook-based developer environment of choice for millions of data scientists and researchers worldwide► Ran the 2021 survey = gathered 215 data points from 1,135 data scientists about their of use cases/ pain points in the areas of: data sources, analytical scale, visualization, and collaboration.
► Gathered intel about satisfaction with closed-source competitors for each topic so that we could identify where Jupyter either had an advantage or needed to improve.► Ranked most important "problems to solve" based on weighted survey data for high-impact software development without the guesswork.

Joint venture of WuXi AppTec and deCODE Genetics. Nextcode provides DNA sequencing, genomic cohorts (RWD), and cloud platform for genomic analysis. Later, reincorporated as Genuity Science.► Tech-lead on $750K research engagements with Janssen, BI, and AbbVie that leveraged our analytics platform to discover drug targets in national DNA biobanks (UKBB/TCGA/GMI) e.g. running joint-variant calling and GWAS on WES of 100K patients.► Oversaw OKR strategy and agile backlog for the analytics platform, which covered both scientific research (biostatistical tools, multi-omic visualization) and technology (distributed analytics, computational notebooks, workflow orchestration).
