I provide consulting services for nonprofits in CLAS implementation, strategic planning, program design, and implementation. My latest project was to develop a Culturally and Linguistically Appropriate Service (CLAS) implementation plan for the Community Action Agency of New Haven. I worked with this client to outline how they could adopt CLAS Standards into their organization to continue becoming a more culturally competent organization that can respond and adapt to its clients' changing demographics and needs.

As the Healthcare Career Connect Program Director, I oversee a program funded by Connecticut's Office of Workforce Strategy. Our program's purpose is to train and grow the next generation of healthcare professionals. Operating under Governor Lamont's direction, our program enables individuals to access short-term training programs, acquire industry-recognized credentials, and secure entry-level positions in the healthcare field.

I managed two grants focused on promoting health equity and health literacy in the Waterbury area. I expanded our team of community health workers and created a health education program with the Waterbury Senior Center in partnership with the American Heart Association.

-Led the development and acquisition of funding for NVCOG's Brownfields program, securing three EPA brownfield grants totaling over $1.5 million. These grants focused on cleaning up environmentally contaminated properties in underserved and economically distressed communities.-Managed the brownfield program's communications, including crafting an e-newsletter, enhancing web content, and redesigning program materials for accessibility, notably the sub-grant applications.-Advised NVCOG on inclusive and equitable public outreach best practices, enhancing community engagement efforts.-Directed NVCOG's social media strategy to promote ongoing projects and initiatives effectively.-Designed a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion framework for NVCOG.-Cultivated strategic partnerships and conducted outreach with community partners aligned with NVCOG's mission.-Managed a downtown study for the City of Waterbury focused on increasing transportation access and expanding economic development opportunities.-Oversaw consultant teams and ensured diverse stakeholder representation in the development of inclusive public outreach processes.-Conducted stakeholder interviews to identify challenges and opportunities within designated corridors.-Coordinated outreach efforts and led an AARP Walk Audit to improve pedestrian infrastructure.-Contributed as a member of the Waterbury Public Arts Committee, coordinating impactful public art projects.

Provided targeted education and outreach to NYC public schools through the Zero Waste Schools Program. ZWS is a partnership between GrowNYC, Department of Education and Department of Sanitation. For the past four years our program worked with over 400 NYC public schools in Brooklyn, Queens and Manhattan to divert all recyclable and organic waste from landfills.

I also managed and operated the West Harlem Food Pantry including logistics, wholesale purchasing, delivery and receiving of food in addition to establishing and formalizing volunteer roles and responsibilities.

Because of my interest in planning and public health I was uniquely positioned to work concurrently with the Health Department and the Transportation Planning division.At the Health Department, I authored a comprehensive literature review for the Healthy Communities By Design program, highlighting research that connects how the built environments impacts community health. Additionally, I contributed to a collaborative effort aimed at devising a health assessment tool for planning agencies to integrate health and equity considerations into long-term land use planning processes.In the Transportation Planning division, I spearheaded the preparation of two funding applications, successfully securing $3.8 million from ODOT and Metro's Regional Flexible Fund program for an active transportation project in the City of Wood Village. Further, I partnered with Reynolds School District and Troutdale Elementary School to establish a Safe Routes to School program and I obtained a $7,000 mini grant to launch a 'Walking School Bus' initiative.

During my tenure at Metro, I contributed significantly to the update of the 2035 Regional Transportation Plan (RTP). As a co-author, I played a key role in crafting the performance measures chapter, where I conducted extensive analysis on the potential impacts of various transportation investment models. This analysis included assessing their effects on regional greenhouse gas emissions, enhancing access to trails, and promoting multi-modal travel options.One of my most notable achievements during this time was spearheading the application for an EPA Award recognizing Metro's efforts in "Smart Growth." This initiative culminated in a Metro Councilor receiving the prestigious "Overall Excellence" award in planning at a ceremony held in Washington DC.

I had the privilege to contribute to the update of the inaugural Bicycle Master Plan, assuming a leadership role in researching past policies and pinpointing necessary policy adaptations to align with the City's evolving bicycle transportation objectives. Additionally, as the streetcar network expansion commenced, I conducted research on optimal design practices for streetcar and bicycle integration, resulting in the publication of design guidelines within the BMP.In addition, I spearheaded outreach and public engagement efforts for the BMP, orchestrating the involvement of community volunteers and organizing open house events to gather valuable feedback for plan refinement.

At Otak, I worked on a large scale environmental impact statement for a road improvement project. I used GIS to analyze potential impacts, collected public comments for the public record, gained experience with project billing, and prepared and organized public information meetings. Learned that I did not want to be a transportation consultant.

During my time in Milwaukie, a vibrant city on the cusp of discovery, I embarked on a multifaceted internship journey that immersed me in the dynamic realm of urban planning. With Portlanders increasingly turning their attention to Milwaukie, amidst plans for high-speed rail and tensions surrounding imminent changes, I delved into a range of projects that offered a comprehensive view of urban development.One of the highlights was my involvement in a downtown parking study, where I meticulously analyzed parking dynamics and devised strategies to address emerging challenges. Additionally, I spearheaded the planning of bicycle parking infrastructure for the downtown area, aligning with Milwaukie's commitment to sustainable transportation.My internship provided invaluable insights into local land use and zoning regulations, as I collaborated with diverse stakeholders including citizens, developers, and real estate professionals. From navigating complex zoning issues to contributing to Milwaukie's Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan, I embraced the opportunity to tackle both short-term objectives and long-term visions.Among the various projects, I led a comprehensive downtown parking inventory utilizing GIS technology to map parking volume, and conducted a thorough bicycle parking study to inform strategic placement of new bike facilities downtown.In this role, I wore many hats, engaging in hands-on planning initiatives while cultivating meaningful relationships with stakeholders.
