Luis started freelancing in college, offering graphic design and audio mixing. His graphic design menu included posters, CD covers, logos, web graphics, and other materials. He also mixed, arranged, and edited audio tracks and video clipsLater on, Luis added writing and editing to his menu, developing and refining marketing copy, news articles, press releases, question items, and other content. Luis began his professional photography career in 2004 by assisting other photographers and taking on jobs requiring backup photographers. In October 2006, he registered his own business and assembled a team of photographers to collaborate with. Luis and his team provided portraiture, product photography, event coverage, and other services as required by their clients, which ranged from individuals and families to government offices and multinational corporations. As the owner, Luis took care of day to day operations, including marketing, accounting, and pretty much everything that went into running a business. Luis started out at Pepper as a copywriter, and his role was to manage and produce content for web sites, social media sites (Facebook, Twitter, Google+, etc.), newsletters, mailers, and other materials. As Pepper took on more writers, Luis' role expanded beyond content creation, and he began to work on marketing and communications plans for their clients, as well as for internal use.

Luis joined his alma mater as soon as he received clearance to graduate, and his first project was organizing his own graduation ceremony. After this, he took charge of other institutional events, like the Sophomore Incorporation Rites, as well as income-generating activities necessary for operations of the Office of Student Affairs. His other projects focused on student publications, and he served as adviser to the student-managed editorial board for the yearbook, as well as other student publications. This led to Luis' second position within the University: Corporate Communications Officer. In his new role, he produced various PR and marketing materials for the university and its different units; and provided photography for documentation of events and for production of marketing materials. Among Luis' achievements during his stay with the Corporate Communications Office include:- drafting the design & layout guidelines of Universitas, the official university publication, - overseeing the production of the university's Corporate Identity Kit, which governs use of the university's logo, seal, and other symbols, and related to this, - designing the informal university logo for use in varsity uniforms, clothing and accessories, and other applications where use of the formal seal is not feasible.

While still taking classes at University, Luis joined what was then Burnwater Productions, where he and the rest of the team conceptualized, wrote, produced, and edited audio-visual presentations and / or video segments. Their first client was their own school, the School of Communications in UA&P, and from there they expanded to clients outside the walls of the university.
