Develop point-of-care glucose measurement assay adapted from diabetes blood glucose meter technology and optimized for testing CSF.• Prepared National Institutes of Health (NIH) proposal/presented funding pitch (Awarded Department’s “Best Pitch” prize).• Consulted with UCLA Medical Center physicians to design CSF collection chamber with integrated fiber optic pressure sensor using SolidWorks and performed COMSOL simulation to ensure adequate fluid flow into chamber from spine.• 3D printed prototype, developed/performed testing protocol on phantom models to compare accuracy of fiber optic and manometer pressure measurement, and used statistical analysis (MATLAB) to demonstrate increased accuracy.
