About Luz Cristal Glangchai

I am a scientist, entrepreneur, and adventurer. My passion is igniting the entrepreneurial spirit in young girls and inspiring next generation creative leaders and entrepreneurs. My long term goals are: 1) to decrease the gender gap in leadership positions in the tech and entrepreneurial sectors by giving girls the confidence to believe that they can do anything; they can create and innovate. They can 3D print an engine, create software, or start a company. 2) to build entrepreneurship educational programs that prepare kids to be the next generation of technology innovators and entrepreneurs.I have been featured in the Wall Street Journal, the TODAY Show, NPR’s The TakeAway, Mashable and TEDx San Antonio. My work with tech startups, higher education, R&D, and product development/design has given me insight into the process of innovation beginning with idea generation, to tech commercialization and startup formation. I have worked in the biomedical, semiconductor, and nanotechnology spaces, and I am passionate about bringing together diverse fields of study to create innovative solutions to problems. Specialties: startups, entrepreneurship, innovation, education, drug delivery, nanotechnology, biomedical engineering/biomaterials, technology commercialization, intellectual property law, product development, design, semiconductor processes, MEMS, NEMS

Evaluated thermal nanoimprint lithography (ThNIL) and step and flash imprint lithography (SFIL) as means of fabricating biocompatible nanoparticles. Optimized the step and flash imprint lithography (SFIL) technique for fabricating nanoparticles and extensively characterized the SFIL fabrication process, as well as the properties of the imprinted biopolymers. Fabricated nanoparticles of precise geometry and size on silicon wafers and harvested directly into aqueous buffer using a biocompatible, one-step release technique. Developed an enzyme-degradable material system and demonstrated encapsulation and enzyme-triggered release of antibodies and nucleic acids from imprinted nanoparticles. Evaluated the bioactivity of encapsulated therapeutics in-vitro. First demonstration of monodisperse, size/shape-specifc, enzyme-responsive nanoparticles as small as 50nm.
