Optimized the step and flash imprint lithography (SFIL) technique for fabricating nanoparticles and extensively characterized the SFIL fabrication process, as well as the properties of the imprinted biopolymers. Fabricated nanoparticles of precise geometry and size on silicon wafers and harvested directly into aqueous buffer using a biocompatible, one-step release technique. Developed an enzyme-degradable material system and demonstrated encapsulation and enzyme-triggered release of antibodies and nucleic acids from imprinted nanoparticles. Evaluated the bioactivity of encapsulated therapeutics in-vitro. First demonstration of monodisperse, size/shape-specifc, enzyme-responsive nanoparticles as small as 50nm.
