Pioneered 3 Day Startup in San Antonio, a 3-day, high-intensity, caffeine-fueled, entrepreneurial weekend, which brought together professionals and entrepreneurial college students to ideate, perform market research, prototype, and pitch their startup ideas. 5 companies collectively raised over $1.6mm in funding and 4 companies were accepted into incubator/accelerator programs such as TechStars, 500Startups and Geekdom Fund.

Developed and patented disease-responisve nanoparticles using a novel application of step and flash imprint lithography to fabricate biocompatible, stimuli-responsive nanoparticles of precise sizes, shapes and compositions, with the potential to deliver drugs, biologics or imaging agents specifically to diseased tissues.

Developed high-throughput semiconductor-based nanofabrication techniques using synthetic and biological macromers (peptides) to produce highly monodisperse nanoparticles, as well as enzymatically-triggered nanoparticles, of precise sizes and shapes. Evaluated thermal nanoimprint lithography (ThNIL) and step and flash imprint lithography (SFIL) as means of fabricating biocompatible nanoparticles. Optimized the step and flash imprint lithography (SFIL) technique for fabricating nanoparticles and extensively characterized the SFIL fabrication process, as well as the properties of the imprinted biopolymers. Fabricated nanoparticles of precise geometry and size on silicon wafers and harvested directly into aqueous buffer using a biocompatible, one-step release technique. Developed an enzyme-degradable material system and demonstrated encapsulation and enzyme-triggered release of antibodies and nucleic acids from imprinted nanoparticles. Evaluated the bioactivity of encapsulated therapeutics in-vitro. First demonstration of monodisperse, size/shape-specifc, enzyme-responsive nanoparticles as small as 50nm. Designed and procured semi-automated final test equipment requested by customer, resulting in an estimated $2.2M in sales and an increase in customer satisfaction.
