- Implemented strategic technology platform for cathode development to meet cell performance and safety requirements for Cuberg’s Li metal cells- Led design and supplier decision-making for critical-path cathode electrode purchasing

- Managed and mentored a team of 7 engineers, scientists, and interns responsible for understanding the electrochemical, chemical, and physical mechanisms by which Cuberg’s lithium metal cells operate and fail- Defined and managed work streams for anode, cathode, electrolyte, separator components for Cuberg’s first cell product completing Engineering Validation, including specifications, FMEA, material-level risk identification, and supplier agreements- Developed systems and structure for working collaboratively with other Cuberg teams to meet technical product development metrics and timelines. Worked closely with Failure Analysis, Reliability, and Cell Engineering teams- Identified, scoped, resourced, and provided technical mentorship for root cause analysis and troubleshooting projects related to chemical and electrochemical cell failures

- Scoped, planned, and led projects targeting Cuberg’s next generation Li metal cells, vetting technologies meet cell performance targets- Led a large task force to develop comprehensive understanding of lithium plating and stripping during cell cycling

- Developed surface treatments for Silicon anode materials by wet chemical and ALD methods, to tune processability and performance in cells- Built partnerships and assessed coatings applied on Sila’s Si anode material by external collaborators

- Principal Investigator and technical lead for $4.5 million project funded by ARPA-E for development of conversion cathodes to increase the energy density of Li-ion cells, with a team of up to 5 scientists and engineers- Developed battery materials using a variety of synthesis techniques including vapor deposition and other gas phase reactions techniques- Experienced with battery cell testing including bench-scale slurry formulation and electrode coating, electrochemical analysis, electrolyte testing and optimization, and understanding failure mechanisms

- Designed and synthesized organic materials to improve electronic conductivity and control precipitation reactions in Li-S batteries- Assessed properties of organic materials by a range of spectroscopic and electrochemical techniques, as well as in battery cell prototypes- Trained and mentored undergraduate interns in chemical synthesis, analysis, and battery testing

- Designed and synthesized catalysts for selective olefin metathesis reactions, especially ring-opening metathesis polymerization- Developed novel synthetic route for olefin metathesis catalysts - Studied reaction mechanism to understand catalyst selectivity- Mentored an undergraduate student in organometallic synthesis
