While at Sinclair Knight Mertz I had the opportunity to participate in some of the largest Port and Gas development projects in Western Australia. These included large scale dredging and baseline marine monitoring projects at Barrow Island, Port Hedland and Onslow as a field lead, project technical assistance and field operations management. I also had the opportunity to participate in smaller projects including invasive pest management and towed benthic video surveying, as field specialist, technical lead and technical writer.

Senior Technician in Benthic Marine Ecology. Responsibilities included: - Technical and Field leader for multidisciplinary projects, including long term ecological monitoring for Auckland Regional Council & Habitat mapping projects for several New Zealand Government organisations (see references). - Authored ecological and habitat Mapping reports, and contributed sections to multidisciplinary consultancy reports, including environmental impact assessments for significant energy generation projects. Contributed to papers for scientific publication. - Planned and led field sampling utilising a wide range of field techniques in the marine environment, involving small boat use, SCUBA, towed instrument arrays, underwater video and imaging, side scan sonar use, data logging, chemical probes, placement and data retrieval of oceanographic instrumentation and core sampling. - Assisted with planning of, and participated in, two seasons of under ice research in Antarctica as part of the Latitude Gradient Project, involving video transect survey and nutrient flux chamber research utilizing SCUBA, data logger and drop camera techniques. - Invertebrate taxonomy and laboratory techniques.
