My electrical career started as an Electrical Trade Assistant in 2006 after leaving the sales industry chasing a career change. I had always enjoyed installation of high end audio equipment and home renovations and becoming an electrician seemed like a great option. The mining boom provided a great entrance into the industry and I was able to gain a great deal of experience. Installation and construction of mining camps, railway civil electrical and points and signalling, primary and fines crushing plants, gas train and transfer stations, stackers and reclaimers combined with cable installation and associated electrical infrastructure. This ten year period of learning the electrical industry from ground level gave me a rounded overview of the trade and a skill set that assisted me through my apprenticeship building electrical switchboards, mcc’s, kiosks and substations. After completing my apprenticeship I continued at that company for a year furthering my experience which greatly helped my understanding of electrical drawings and mine site compliance for electrical installations and testing. Fast forward to 2023 and I now am leading hand to a small crew of industrial electricians building a large mining/processing plant in Kalgoorlie for the rare earth market. It has been a long road with many hurdles but I pride myself on sticking with it and making it happen. Onward and upward. Thank you for reading 👍🏻
