• Plans, directs and performs all aspects of collaborative research and conservation of Kauai’s endangered forest birds using cutting-edge techniques that have prevented their projected extinction.• Assembled and leads a team of five professionals, supporting recruiting and development, implementation of field plans, and data management and reporting, leading to more than 20 scientific articles and technical reports. • Cultivates strategic relationships with diverse governmental, academic, not-for-profit, and private partners to enhance scope and effectiveness of management activities and influence conservation policy statewide. Implemented a multi-pronged communications plan to maintain these relationships and enhance awareness of major conservation issues.• Develops and manages project budgets and raises funds. Secured more than $2.5 million in philanthropic and grant support from over 10 major and hundreds of small donors.

Serves as co-advisor on Ph.D. student committees in Ecology, Evolution and Conservation Biology and Natural Resources and Ecosystem Management programs.

Conducted quantitative research and produced technical reports and scientific manuscripts on the impact of motorized and non-motorized recreation Sierra Nevada bird and mammal communities.

Conducted research and wrote technical reports and scientific manuscripts on the endangered Laysan Duck, supporting successful conservation activities including translocation and habitat restoration. Managed databases and evaluated data and field methods to assess and enhance statistical rigor.

Designed a conservation management strategy for mesquite and acacia woodlands in southern Nevada and an adaptive management research agenda for ecosystems in the Lake Tahoe Basin.
