Founded in November 2016, Whale Song Theatre has been a goal and passion project for many years. We are committed to producing quirky and quality shows - while raising awareness and funds for local charities. Our first production "Heathers: The Musical" debuted in February 2017 and enjoyed a wildly successful sold-out run. We remounted the show at the Stages Theatre Festival in May 2017 thanks to Eastern Front Theatre. "Heathers" went on to receive Bronze in the 2017 Best of The Coast Awards for Theatre. At the 2017 Halifax Fringe Festival we recieved three awards for our drama "Stop Kiss" by Diana Son (Best Drama, Best Performer - Katerina Bakolias, Best Kiss). In February 2018 we'll open our 3rd show - "Peter and the Starcatcher" in support of the IWK Children's Hospital.

Involved with the company since I was 17 years old, I spent 10 years being mentored by some of the best in the Nova Scotian theatre community. First as an assistant producer, and eventually working my way up to managing producer in 2006, I lead production teams of up to 25 and casts of up to 23. I delivered shows under budget, brought the company out of debt and secured provincial and national grant funding. I sat as the Secretary of the Board from 2010. I was responsible for all company wide communications, chairing board meetings and keeping accurate records.During my time with the company I worked as a stage manager, assistant stage manager, assistant director, director, improv instructor, writer and lighting designer.
