Opturion develops next-generation optimisation software with a focus on transport and logistics, workforce management and advanced manufacturing. Our unique optimisation platform provides flexible and dynamic optimisation based on state-of-the-art technology developed at Melbourne and Monash universities over the past decade. At Opturion, I am responsible for the design and development of tailored optimisation software for industry.I've been the chief architect of:- Opturion's routing optimiser, which is in commercial use by companies in the transport, construction, media, service and pharmaceutical industries;- Supply chain optimisation tools for advanced manufacturing, including a scheduler for multi-colour printing presses, in commercial use at a Fortune 500 company;- Opturion's rostering platform, which can roster hundreds of staff members, taking into account skills, personal preferences, fatigue, individual productivity rates and can do minimal change re-rostering by default. Our rostering solution is being rolled out at a major logistics company.

I was recruited by National ICT Australia (NICTA) for my expertise in constraint model rewriting. I was part of the team that built the next-generation optimisation platform that is being commercialised through spin-out company Opturion since 2012. I chiefly worked on the automatic generation of efficient optimisers from high-level, technology-independent descriptions.

My research was focused on (constrained) optimisation, business rules and term rewriting. I developed ways to improve the expressiveness and execution mechanism of Constraint Handling Rules (CHR), a language at the intersection of the above-mentioned fields. I also worked on applications of optimisation, including time tabling and rostering.
