I develop content for an economic development marketing firm. As a part of my work, I conduct interviews with individuals involved in economic development initiatives and research development projects to produce written content for client websites. I also contribute to the firm's thought leadership on salient issues within the industry, especially FDI, trade promotion, and business or worker attraction programs.

I coordinate a wide range of programs at the Washington, DC, office of the East-West Center, a US-based institution for public diplomacy in the Indo-Pacific region established by Congress in 1960. I oversee all aspects of the Asia Pacific Bulletin (APB) publication, including the solicitation of authors, selection of themes for special series, editing of articles, and promotion on social media. Similarly, I also coordinate EWC’s Occasional Paper series, a platform for publishing long-form technical analysis. I have evaluated funding opportunities for the center. I have drafted responses to notice of funding opportunities (NOFO) and grant proposals. I managed the US-Philippines Alliance Fellowship, which brought Filipino foreign affairs experts to Washington, DC, for 3-month research residencies. I implemented a project examining US-Korean commercial connections outside of Seoul and organized a roadshow highlighting the impact of Japanese FDI in the United States. I also liaise with various program stakeholders and partners, including U.S. embassies, educational institutions, and foreign diplomats.

I worked with the U.S. Commercial Service to promote the United States as the world's premier investment destination in Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Africa. I also assisted investors from the region with market research, matchmaking, navigating federal regulations, and mobilizing government support for their investment projects. I coordinated and supervised outreach to potential investors, and other investment promotion efforts, by U.S. Commercial Service staff in Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Africa.In addition to managing an international portfolio, I supported economic development organizations (EDOs) within the Southeastern United States—Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, Arkansas, and Oklahoma—with their efforts to attract foreign direct investment from around the globe. More specifically, I helped EDOs find data to better articulate their value proposition and coordinated with U.S. embassies in support of EDO outreach to investors abroad.

I planned investment promotion events, including the annual SelectUSA Investment Summit, a 3000-person event. I also served as the lead for the Interagency Investment Working Group (IIWG), which coordinated investment promotion efforts across more than 20 federal agencies. As the IIWG lead, I liaised with over 20 other government agencies involved in investment attraction and economic development to coordinate panels, webinars, and federal representation at tradeshows.

Shortly after joining Next Level Partners, I was entrusted with supervising a team of seven Compliance Assistants, who received, processed and recorded campaign donations. I also trained and assigned tasks to the Compliance Assistants. In April, I transitioned to the role of Account Assistant. Initially, I assisted a Senior Compliance Associate with managing the finances of 11 incumbent congressional campaigns. Later, I independently managed four congressional campaigns, three incumbents and one challenger. As an Compliance Associate, I tracked and recorded campaign financial transactions, saw to the approval and payment of invoices, coordinated with client vendors, responded to client inquiries, and prepared reports for the Federal Election Committee (FEC).

When I first arrived in Washington, DC, I worked as an administrative temp in between my longer-term positions. Subsequently, I am familiar with a wide variety of office support and operational tasks. For example, I have managed customer records using the Timberlake association management system and the RedHen CRM platform. I also created a dynamic member directory and event registration system using excel for a nursing association. While working in the accounting department of a real estate firm, I did light bookkeeping and invoicing. I helped a healthcare organization with preparation and day-of logistics for its annual conference. As a matter of course, I am proficient in both Microsoft Office, Google office, and simple graphic design using Photoshop.

The Southeast Asia Practice helps ASG's corporate clients navigate through the intersection of business and government. As an ASG intern, I contributed research to a presentation on opportunities in Indonesia's ICT sector, drafted memos on corporate acquisitions and energy policy in Malaysia, and developed talking points and reports on Korean and Taiwanese policy towards Southeast Asia. I also authored the daily newsletter for the practice, which tracked business developments in Southeast Asia.

My main responsibility was contributing original content to the CSIS blog and newsletter. To this point, I monitored political developments in Southeast Asia and conducted the background research necessary to conduct in-depth analysis of current issues in the region. My duties also included researching figures on Southeast Asian trade, official development assistance and military aid for a CSIS microsite and several associated projects. Additionally, I assisted with many aspects of the planning and execution of CSIS events, including but not limited to writing invitations, researching possible speakers and supporting day-of-event logistics. I also managed the program's social media presence. In regards to program operations, I supported the making of travel arrangements for senior staff, including the drafting and confirmation of trip itineraries.

Working for the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the UN Country Team in Malaysia gave me a solid foundation on which to build my understanding of international development. I was involved in a wide variety of UN projects. I outlined a communications plan for promoting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). I conducted research and wrote speeches to support the activities of the UN Resident Coordinator. Writing event reports, taking meeting notes and drafting briefs were also a part of my duties. In support of the UN country team, I mapped the landscape of public private partnerships related to the SDGs in Malaysia as well as case studies from other countries.
