Conduct Sanger sequencing via individual tube sequencing, 96-well, and 384-well sequencing, PCR purification, and fragment analysis.Perform QC services, namely Genomic DNA and RNA QC.-Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, i.e., Tecan, Beckman NX, ABI 3730XL, and Agilent 2200 Tapestation.-Execute general lab functions in relation to daily Standard Operating Procedures.-Analyze sequenced data and provide researchers with data. -Effectively communicate services with researchers and aid in troubleshooting data.

● Assisted in research investigating the bacteria-bacteria interaction between microorganisms found in the reproductive organ if the Hawaiian bobtail squid, Euprymna scolopes versus other aquatic microorganisms to identify which strains of bacteria were inhibited by the squid’s system. This was a collaborative effort under the supervision of a Ph.D. candidate.● Participated in weekly laboratory group meetings presenting my research progress and challenges, data acquired, and future experiments based on results.● Presented a compelling narrative of my aspect of this project at the 6th Annual UConn McNair Summer poster exhibit in July 2018.● My contribution to this project amounted to data and input to manuscripts for publication.● Performed all required tasks to keep the lab running smoothly such as the husbandry of laboratory animals, maintaining inventory and chemical stocks, cleaning lab equipmentand utensils, autoclaving necessary items, and clear communication between lab members.● Learned and practiced techniques of preparing different types of liquid and plate media, both inducing and suppressing the production of secondary metabolites of bacteria fromthe Hawaiian Bobtail squid’s Accessory Nidamental Gland (ANG).

● Learned a variety of techniques focused on the analysis of Dictyostelium discoideum, a eukaryotic amoeba recognized as an NIH model organism which is studied in gene expression, cell motility, and chemotaxis, development and differentiation.●Participated in an effort to troubleshoot protocols making this model system accessible and tractable.Conducted experiments to qualitatively and quantitatively examine various aspects of Dictyostelium biology, using fluorescence microscopy utilizing softwares such as Fiji and Image TrackJ to analyze data.● Practiced advanced cell biology experimental techniques and manipulations.
