As an educator at D.H. White Elementary School, I work together with our faculty to create an atmosphere that emphasizes communication and cooperation, to provide a safe and engaging learning environment for our diverse student population. As a district, we are striving to close the achievement gap through the use of AVID strategies to prepare all students for college or career readiness, through the use of rigorous Common Core aligned curriculum, and Social/Emotional Learning (SEL).More specifically, as a 1st grade teacher, I create lesson plans for classroom and homework assignments, taking into account various learning styles and abilities, which are modified, as needed. Daily instruction takes place in English Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies, Social/Emotional Learning, P.E., and Art. Assignments and tests are reviewed, graded, and logged into the district's grading system, for each student. The students' progress is communicated with students, parents, and administration, on a regular basis. Technology is integrated for educational purposes, especially during a distance learning/hybrid classroom setting.

Advanced Micro Resource instructors support participants in planning for the future and realizing their potential, leveraging the technology skills and experience they gain from the training. Our objective is to provide people with the skills and knowledge needed to take an active role in ensuring their own success. Students explore professional jobs and academic opportunities, and learn from people who have already succeeded in professional careers.

Assisted students in preparation for higher level English classes by improving vocabulary, reading comprehension, note-taking, and study skills through class work, homework, computer work, class participation, and small group discussions.

Through this state approved provider of SES services for Southern and Central California, pre-assessment tests were administered to students to determine a set of learning goals for each child, based on California State standards. An instructional program was developed, using approved curriculum/materials to address student needs, in the areas of mathematics or language arts. After the allocated number of hours was fulfilled, a post-test was given to evaluate students' progress.

1st Grade Teacher - Planned instruction and learning experiences for all students; created a safe, nurturing learning environment; assessed student learning; integrated Bible studies into daily lessons; good rapport and daily/weekly communication with parents on school and classroom events and student progress; worked with PTF for fundraising and helped with Summer Cub Camp.

Taught a 6/7th grade combination class; K/1st class (for five years); and a 1st/2nd class - taught in self-contained classrooms general subjects - Language Arts, Math, Social Studies, Science, and Art. For three years, I was the Technology Mentor assisting colleagues in obtaining and applying CTAP Level I & II course work in their classrooms. I was also the Gifted and Talented Education (G.A.T.E.) Coordinator, for three years, working with the principal to plan enriching activities and field trips for 4-8th grade G.A.T.E students. Also, was a member of the PTC, helping with fund-raiser activities for the school.

4th Grade Teacher - Taught general subjects (Language Arts, Mathematics, Social Studies, Science, Art) to low to middle Socioeconomic Status (SES) students, whose abilities ranged from low to gifted.Materials were sought out and located for those who needed supplementation to the district curriculum and for those who needed enrichment of the district curriculum.

Utilized training gained from obtaining the Cross-cultural, Language, and Academic Development (CLAD) certificate and Second Language Instruction in the County of Kern (S.L.I.C.K.) to successfully teach general subjects (Language Arts/ESL, Mathematics, Social Studies, Science, and Art) to students who were mainly of English Language Learners (ELLs).
