My task was to quantify the sediment contamination by heavy metals due to watch industry in three lakes located in the Joux Valley, situated in the Jura Mountains of western Switzerland. I showed for the two lakes suspected to be polluted, Joux and Brenet lake, a trend towards higher metal concentration in the upper part of the cores (close to the surface), decreasing to lower concentrations in the bottom of the cores. This increase matched quite well with the development of the watch-making industries.
