As HR professional I worked closely with management,supervisors and personnel representatives to enhance work efficiency and biz profitability through leadership development, open communication and involving people to develop work processes. Change challenges were great, the business situation was tight and organisational culture fragmented. Yet, also professionalism, energy and drive was in place. During the year we put effort on people topics as: employment and resourcing/recruitment and retention, organisational development, people management and leadership, and some good steps forward were seen.

Lead HR team covering both human resources management and human resources development. Was a member of the Management Team. Company level HR collaboration was intensive. Organisation structure and operational model were further developed to meet the business challenges. As HR team, we contributed to the organisational developmet of the unit and the development and implementation of the HR service model and HR services. I was responsible for the HR team change. During the years Nokia Research Center, as the Nokia company, grew quickly both in Finland and globally. The HR team provided support and coaching to management and personnel to meet the growth and business challenges globally and locally. Major change to develop HR operational model at Nokia started. HR services and delivery were intensively developed both on business unit and on company level. SAP HR information system is an example of a change project of strategic importance, the business benefits were to be seen later on. HR team and myself were appreciated for commitment and ability to grow with increasing responsibilities also during the challenging times.

The role and responsibilities focused on recruitment, induction, compensation & benefits and employment issues. Nokia Research Center had started to grow very fast on personnel headcount since 1994. The unit tripled its headcount within a few years and became quickly a truly multinational organisation in Finland as R&D talents were hired from abroad. The growth put intensive demand to start to develop HR services and delivery respectively.
