John is currently Managing Director of Lead Dog Ventures, a business accelerator providing emerging technology enterprises access to a well-developed network of relationship, technology and financial capital with current and past investments in over 80 software-related companies and funds. Previously, John served as VP Technology Strategy at IBM where he led IBM's Internet Strategy Task Force, chartered by then IBM CEO Lou Gerstner to design and develop IBM's Internet strategy across the corporation. Prior to IBM, John was CTO/SVP Development at spreadsheet/collaboration software pioneer Lotus Development Corporation in Cambridge, MA. Prior to Lotus, John served as CTO/Exec VP Product at application software leaders Dun & Bradstreet Software and McCormack & Dodge, as well as CTO/Exec VP Product Management at database software powerhouse, Cullinet Software. John also served as Exec Chairman/CTO at distribution/logistics leader Distribution Management Systems pioneering the use of AI in business applications.In addition, John was Co-founder/Exec Chairman/CTO of six startups: Agility Systems, Adjoin Solutions, Adesso Systems, Narrative Communications, AnyDay.com and Infostoria -- with ALL of these companies targets of successful acquisitions. John serves or has served on the Boards of Directors of over 45 tech companies, including 10 publicly traded. He served as President of the American Software Association, as a long-time Trustee, Entrepreneur-In-Residence and current Entrepreneurship Lecturer at Babson College, and as Trustee (Emeritus) of the Massachusetts Technology Leadership Council (MassTLC), from whom he recently received the Commonwealth Award, the organization’s highest honor, in recognition of a lifetime of achievement in the Massachusetts software industry. He holds a BA in Finance from Babson College, and lives with his wife Ann on a working farm in Wayland, MA enjoying frequent visits from their kids and six grandkids.
