• Lead community meetings on the water resources septic to sewer program. Provided City of Mesa residents with information on the department’s goals of extending sewer lines to replace septic systems, gathered feedback from residents, and discussed how the program would affect the residents when the program begins. • Create presentations, prepare, and present water resources initiatives to City of Mesa council members. • Work as part of a team to research, develop and implement a cost of service study. This study takes into account the financial picture of the utility to determine an adequate cost of service for Mesa residents. This study will be used as a guide to set rates for residents in the City of Mesa. • Created flowcharts of the Water Resources and Engineering Department’s business relationship. These flowcharts helped to map out pain points between the two departments so the departments could work on improving various processes in their shared operations. • Developed the 2013 water resources strategic plan. Gather input from 30 department managers on 12 business objectives created by the water resources management team. These objectives include financial, operational, water quality, and asset management for the department. • Created an award packet that led to winning the 2013 American Water Works Association (AWWA) Gold Award. The award packet included input from all water resources business divisions. This is a prestigious award in the water industry and has established Mesa as one of the top utilities in the country. • Research public policy projects for the Water Resources Director such as the backflow prevention process, special improvement district legislation, and benchmarking strategies for national utilities.

• Develop the Lake County legislative agenda. Wrote 15 policy recommendations on specific issues such as cell phone tower placement and gray water usage in public buildings. • Meet with Lake County’s State and Federal legislators to discuss how best to solve challenges facing Lake County Government. • Track over 500 bills as they move through the legislative process. Monitor progress of all bills that affect Lake County to better understand the best strategy to oppose or support legislation. • Network with elected officials, state legislators, business leaders, and community liaisons to build strong relationships. • Create presentations to effectively communicate Lake County’s budgetary impact on departments as well as communities. • Research laws, statutes, and state mandates to build accurate financial forecasts for Lake County Government. • Research municipalities, counties, and state operations to find best management practices of other government entities. • Develop green purchasing program. Determined a 25% increase in green purchasing standards by implementing a green office supply policy. • Worked on Lake County’s new cell phone policy.
