In 2013 I bought a restaurant in downtown Lynchburg that had closed. Over the next 5 years, I hired the right people, asked the right questions, and served my community. The result was a thriving business with state recognition that lead the way in revitalizing an entire downtown corridor, gave generously to local charities, and birthed multiple locations throughout the city. Those other locations were Blackwater Coffee, City Place Foods, and a Blackwater Coffee Trailer. As the businesses flourished and offers to purchase them become more common, I chose to make the sale of my businesses part of my long-term financial plan. Selling all of them in 2018, I now focus on helping other business owners grow and create strategic plans.

Beacon of Hope is a nonprofit that is funded through the generous donations of individuals and local businesses. We've set up Future Centers in both of the high schools in Lynchburg, which serve to provide guidance to students and families regarding college, career planning, financial aid, and the many options that include continuing education beyond high school.

The Young Professionals of Central Virginia (YPCV) Executive Director Position leads YPCV's approximately 1100 members. This is a leadership position that assists the business community with attracting and retaining young talent, recognizing that a qualified work-force is key to economic growth and innovation.
