Aims:- assessing biodiversity changes in pristine, exploited, and restored mangroves- identifying species of conservation concern - assessing the amplification/dilution of pathogens along restoration gradients- assessing the spillover risk of zoonotic pathogens between wild and synanthropic animals, and human populations.

Achievements:- redefining taxonomic boundaries of African Sciuridae, with the identification of previously undescribed (sub)species of rope squirrels in the Congo basin- collecting and analysing socio-ecological data to better mitigate zoonotic outbreaks (fieldwork in Kwilu, D.R. Congo)- fostering collaborations in Niger, DR. Congo, Kenya and Morocco.

Achievements:- advising on the scientific aspects of a project proposal to reduce NTD burden in sub-Saharan Africa- co-writing a project funding application, resulting in an EUR 18M grant by KfW Entwicklungsbank.

Achievements:- designing and solving spatial optimisation problems in R - identifying optimal areas for natural reserves, where ecological goals (30x30 Kunming-Montreal, High Seas Treaty) can be met at a minimal cost for local stakeholders- coordinating a team of 10+ international collaborators.

Brussels Metropolitan Area

Achievements:- extracting and amplifying DNA from small Central African mammals - producing a report on Sciuridae population genetics to better predict and manage EID outbreaks (Ebola, Mpox, Covid...).

Achievements:- sampling, extracting, amplifying marine eDNA - producing a report on the marine microbial ecology of the Channel Sea, with a focus on harmful algal blooms.

Achievements:- analysing and successfully pitching investment propositions - introducing sustainable finance, divestment and impact investment to a for-profit organisation.

Achievements:- creating surveys and analysing survey data - improving practices in coordination with all of the University's Schools and with a student-led consulting group.

Achievements:- working early shifts in a heavy industry complex- assisting with logistics (SAP) and metal manufactory.

Achievement:- translating and compiling resources on Akkadian and Assyrian legal perspectives on violence for the School of History. This will be used in the writing of a textbook on Ancient legal frameworks.
