After working for 12 years in service-industry jobs, I volunteered to serve my country in the US Peace Corps. In addition to community development projects I managed during my two years in Ghana, teaching in a small rural school with limited means further strengthened my resolve to help people in every way that I can. Because I wanted to share my experiences with my friends and family back home, I joined the media production committee and learned to tell the stories of my community and my service through videos and podcasts. I continued my path as a public servant by joining the Bureau of Labor Statistics as a Management and Program Analyst. In less than 6 years, I grew from an entry-level novice to leading the BLS IT Contracts team of CORs as Branch Chief, writing, competing, and administering IT contracts in Washington, D.C. I also serve as a resource for BLS program managers, providing guidance on procurement and policy at the Federal, DOL, and BLS levels. Briefly I took a role at the Employee Benefits Security Administration as the lead technical expert on procurement activities, advising senior management, customers, and CORs, working to create a cohesive acquisition program for the entire agency, leading several high-profile and urgent procurements.Personally, I strive to maintain a work-life balance that allows me to start each workday with a positive attitude and clear mind. I have been able to volunteer with various non-profit organizations and enjoy many of the other activities that are prominent in the DC-MD-VA metro area. Professionally, I am dedicated to supporting and trying to improve our government. I work hard each and every day in roles that I know that I can make a positive impact - for my colleagues, my customers, and the people of this nation.
