As part of my role within the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, I manage communications for the CZ Biohub Network, a group of nonprofit biomedical research institutes that brings together researchers from across disciplines to pursue audacious, important scientific challenges on 10- to 15-year time horizons.Led communications strategy and execution for the launch of the Chicago and New York Biohubs following the success of the first CZ Biohub in San Francisco. Led communications for the Chan Zuckerberg Institute for Advanced Biological Imaging, including standing up a new website and branding.Supported tens of announcements and campaigns related to the CZ Biohub San Francisco’s COVID-19 response with partners in state and federal government and local nonprofits.

Led writing and editing for CI's Development team, including crafted compelling giving proposals, stewardship materials, and ongoing communications for CI’s top priorities, donors, and prospects.Worked with Brand and Marketing teams to concept, pitch, write and staff cross-cutting initiatives for CI's blog and social media, print and digital publications, and virtual reality and donor events, including the Good Tech Summit featuring Apple co-founder Steve Wozniack.Wrote internal and external correspondence for CI’s CEO and Board members; advanced and staffed CEO for fundraising events, including a talk at UC Berkeley.

Served as an on-the-record spokesperson and daily point of contact for press inquiries on a wide variety of complex, often controversial issues; served as Acting Deputy Press Secretary 12/15-3/16. Advanced and staffed Secretary of the Interior during public engagements and media conferences.Wrote Presidential and Cabinet-level proclamations, speeches, talking points, press statements, blogs, and social media posts; supported Secretary Sally Jewell’s Twitter account and co-managed Interior social media accounts.Led agency communications strategies on nationwide youth initiatives like President Obama’s Every Kid in a Park and First Lady Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move! Outside.

As part of an interdisciplinary team, participated in a long-term planning process to create park foundation document to articulate park vision and set guiding principals for the next 10 years.As Special Use Permits Coordinator, liaised with customers and partner organizations to ensure effective communication, compliance with regulations and the efficient completion of event permits.

Guided visitor connection to the diverse legacies of a dynamic, four-park system through outreach strategies and program development for diverse urban audiences of up to 200 visitors daily. As Volunteer Program Assistant, increased volunteer staffing by 50%; recruited, supervised and scheduled more than 50 volunteers; designed and led trainings; planned recognition events.

Researched and presented programs on natural and cultural history; co-lead of the Kohm Yah-mah-nee Visitor Center, with visitation averaging 1,000-2,000 visitors per day during high-volume periods.Created publication materials, including guiding principles for the park’s Wilderness Plan, a new employee guide, press releases, articles, brochures, and public relations statements; planned and executed film and dark sky festivals.
