History of One 2 One: One 2 One was born out of the desire of a girl with type 1 diabetes to help another child with type 1. I was diagnosed with type1diabetes on February 2, 2005 when I was 7 years old. Through the years I have benefited from excellent diabetes education, the latest technology, camps, conferences and experiences that have helped me overcome the hurdles this disease presents. I wanted others to have the same benefits that I was able to receive. So I created a scholarship that aims to come alongside and encourage kids to take advantage of opportunities that will lighten their load and open doors of possibility. In an effort to raise funds for my scholarship I created a jewelry business, Dragonfly Jewelry. Initially, these funds were targeted toward insulin pumps, you may have heard of Pennies 4 Pumps. My heart still ached to help the diabetes community and especially for my peers that struggle on a daily basis. This lead me to redefine and broaden my scholarship to offer incentive and encouragement, one (type 1) to another type 1, hence One 2 One!
