I am a Family Nurse Practitioner with Chase Brexton in Baltimore, providing primary care to patients. I formerly specialized in women's health care at George Washington University's outpatient OB/GYN department. I remain passionate about access to family planning options, and continue to provide LARC services.I am also an advanced practice public health nurse (MSN-public health, MPH), working at Jhpiego, a Johns Hopkins University affiliated NGO focused on health systems strengthening to improve maternal/child and public health in low resource settings. The country offices I have supported include Botswana, Lesotho, India, Liberia and Pakistan.I co-authored a cervical cancer position statement of the International Society of International Nurses in Cancer Care (ISNCC) and was lead technical writer on a Facility Based Surveillance toolkit for countries interested in decreasing deaths from cervical cancer.My interest in health promotion and disease prevention stems from my passion for social justice, and my commitment to curbing the health disparities that inequality breeds. I look forward to a lifelong career working towards a more equitable health care system and therefore health care outcomes, both domestically and internationally. I previously practiced as an oncology nurse at Mercy Medical Center in Baltimore. I was partly motivated to return to graduate school after caring for patients who died from cervical cancer, despite an effective vaccine against the virus that underlies the disease.
