As a UCLA student majoring in Public Affairs and Economics, I have cultivated a deep interest in using economic analysis to inform policy decisions that make a tangible impact. I am eager to pursue opportunities that allow me to bridge the gap between economic theory and practical application in both public and private sectors. My experience spans diverse roles where I have applied my analytical skills to real-world challenges. At UC Berkeley, I conducted research on the global sex market, managing data analysis and developing comprehensive literature reviews. My internship at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development gave me the chance to directly engage in policy development, where I supported key initiatives, drafted policy memos, and produced materials used across the department. In the private sector, I contributed to sustainability efforts at Precycle, a plastic credit company, and served as the Financial Director of HOOLIGAN Theatre Company, securing substantial funding and managing large-scale budgets. These experiences have honed my expertise in financial analysis, data management, and strategic planning.I am passionate about leveraging these experiences to drive meaningful change and am excited to explore further opportunities in finance, policy, and consulting. Please feel free to reach out to me at leann.john@gmail.com to discuss further.
