Following a relocation, I remained with Better Together, in a remote capacity, leading the Better Work program. After several months, I decided to begin a transition process, and I helped Better Together identify a successor. When that individual was hired, I remained on board as a consultant to help train the new team member. I simultaneously began my own search for a new opportunity in my local area.During the same time, Better Together conducted an internal assessment process and identified the need to create a new position, a Director of Communications and External Relations. As this position absorbed some of my former responsibilities, I stepped in to fill the role, on an interim basis, while Better Together identified a Florida-based, permanent candidate. Following that new team member’s hire, I have remained on board to assist with special projects relating to Better Jobs, writing, and editing.

Following several years in the field, building a local Better Work site in Jacksonville, Florida, I was promoted to lead our national Better Work program. Better Work equips local churches to empower their neighbors through employment. To date, we have served almost 18,000 neighbors through more than 80 community-led job fairs in cities all across the United States. Under my leadership, we innovated and created a new model which empowers our partners, with our training and consultation, to envision, plan, and execute on their own job fairs. This transformed the program, which was formerly much more dependent on our team. Our partners have led high-impact job fair events in their communities. In 2019, 1 in 4 job seekers left a Better Together network job fair with a job offer. In addition, our employer partners reported having either scheduled or conducted more interviews combined than the total number of job seekers who came through the doors.It was my honor to lead this program, and I know it will continue to transform lives for years to come.Summary of Key Responsibilities:- Creative problem solving and innovation to scale the Better Work program and drive continuous improvement for our job seekers, church partners, and business sponsors- Communicate about and represent the Better Work Program to all audiences and through multiple media- Project management and event planning for job fairs and overall program development- Relationship building with partners across the country- Collaboration with our contracted marketing firm to identity new partners and tell stories from our job fairs - Operational support and contractor management- Creation and deployment of online and in person training programs to teach churches to implement the Better Work model with limited oversight

During Better Together’s startup phase, I was hired to build from scratch a Better Work site in Jacksonville, FL.In three years, with support from our national team, I created almost 20 church partnerships, included more than 100 businesses in local job fairs, and served over 5,000 local job seekers.In addition, we tested and launched innovative strategies at the Jacksonville site which we have transplanted elsewhere to create the culturally distinct elements of the Better Work job fairs.

I managed, from start to finish, our 2016 summer seminars for undergraduate and graduate students. This included creating project plans, project coordination across multiple teams, curriculum design, faculty recruitment, marketing communications planning, student selection, back-end operations, staff and team management, and reporting and recommendations. Additionally, I helped to lead our on campus faculty partnerships team through a summer marketing push and fall programs build-out. This included soliciting partnerships, approving and tracking funding, and setting strategic objectives for the next several semesters.

Promoted from Program Assistant - Higher Education, in September 2014.I developed relationships with faculty partners at universities across the United States and assisted them in creating academic programs that educated their students about the ideas of free societies and limited government. Once programs were developed, I aided faculty partners in optimizing their programs over time.My portfolio included a set of experimental, educational courses for university students and their communities. We tested several variables, including locations, schedules, curriculum, and student audiences, over a semester of learning and trial and error toward models that could be repeated and potentially scaled.At the conclusion of the semester, I delivered on all objectives and remained under budget. For the project’s success, I won a staff-nominated “Own Your Obstacles” award.

I assisted with admissions for CKI's educational programs, conducting phone, Skype, and in-person interviews; managing candidate experience for the Liberty@Work program; assigning staff to review applications and conduct interviews; and assisting selected talent to find job placements.I also conducted research and experimentation on new educational programs, including testing an online asynchronous course and going through a Design-Thinking training with Peer Insight.

I assisted the director of development in his efforts to implement the results of a development audit, to research new and lapsed donors, and to create prioritized donor profiles to assist in donor management and strategy.
