• Generate implant and instrument CAD models and detailed engineering drawings using ProEngineer/Creo software to modify/maintain existing products and support new device designs.• Generate documentation to support designs in accordance with Design Control and Risk Management procedures.• Generate and analyze test data and reports to verify that designs meet functional and performance specifications.• Effectively interact with external and internal personnel to establish necessary design inputs, uphold project plans, and achieve project objectives.• Interface with vendors on technical issues while supervising designs throughout the manufacturing process.

I guide teams in Introduction to Engineering Design through the design process and teaming as they take on semester-long projects.

I worked on design projects with a focus on medical devices for low-resource settings. Specifically, I worked on a low-cost, hospital grade breast pump for use in Blantyre, Malawi.

I work in the Imaging Sub-Systems: X-ray Generation for CT Tubes, Installed Base. In this position, I: --Process data from NessusVCT tubes in the field to characterize early-life behavior and determine relevant variables for failure prediction--Help determine causes of failure based on inspection of failed tubes and suggest manufacturing changes--Develop improved method of designing spaces for imaging equipment prior to hospital installation

I spent 2 months in Malawi living and working with students at Malawi Polytechnic. During this time, I traveled to hospitals to scope design challenges for future design teams. I also worked on user-interface design for a neonatal temperature monitor, surveying doctors and nurses about which of our prototypes they preferred and why. Throughout the summer, I participated in an international collaboration between students of different cultures and backgrounds with the common goal of improving the standard of care in resource-limited settings.
