In this position, I: --Process data from NessusVCT tubes in the field to characterize early-life behavior and determine relevant variables for failure prediction--Help determine causes of failure based on inspection of failed tubes and suggest manufacturing changes--Develop improved method of designing spaces for imaging equipment prior to hospital installation

I spent 2 months in Malawi living and working with students at Malawi Polytechnic. During this time, I traveled to hospitals to scope design challenges for future design teams. I also worked on user-interface design for a neonatal temperature monitor, surveying doctors and nurses about which of our prototypes they preferred and why. Throughout the summer, I participated in an international collaboration between students of different cultures and backgrounds with the common goal of improving the standard of care in resource-limited settings.
