I completed my Bachelor of Animal and Veterinary Biosciences with first class Honours at La Trobe University, Melbourne, in 2020. I am currently in my fourth year of a Bachelor of Veterinary Science (Honours) at James Cook University. I have a keen interest in Australian wildlife, hoping to further pursue this in my career.Throughout my degrees I have completed units such as animal anatomy, animal nutrition, animal health, animal physiology, animal behavior, animal reproduction and endangered species biology. These courses have solidified my passion for animals and conservation. I have sound knowledge about animal handling as I grew up on a working farm, consistently feeding, training and promoting enrichment to a variety of animals such as horses, cats, dogs, chickens and sheep. I have completed a two week internship at Australia Zoo giving me valuable knowledge about crowd control, animal nutrition, animal health and the need to promote animal welfare. I regularly volunteered at Reptile Encounters from 2019-2021, a mobile zoo highlighting Australia's native creatures. Tasks include preparing feed for animals such as pademelons, bettongs, grey-headed flying foxes, possums, parrots, owls, red-tailed black cockatoos and a range more, completing health checks, ensuring shelter and water supply is adequate and enrichment.
