I work in a surgical oncology research laboratory under Kiran Turaga, MD, MPH, supporting research into the use of 5-hydroxymethylcytosine (5hmC) signatures detected in cell-free DNA blood samples as markers of tumor recurrence and burden for colorectal peritoneal metastasis. We aim to develop more sensitive, cost-effective, and less invasive cancer detection methods than conventional tumor markers. I also utilize immunohistochemistry to identify differentially methylated genes expressed in appendiceal and colorectal cancer.

I tutor a sixth grade student in math and literacy once a week.

I transported patients within the hospital and delivered medical supplies. I also shadowed the attending internal medicine physician.

I assisted in all aspects of running the bakery, including baking, cleaning, procuring supplies, and selling baked goods.

I spent two summers teaching kids ages 5-15 private tennis lessons and group classes. I also sold merchandise and assisted club members in the tennis shop.

For three summers, I tutored underperforming Chicago Public Schools students twice a week in math and literacy.
