The Healthy Communities Fellowship provides communications and storytelling training to frontline innovators who are building healthy communities. The fellowship believes those closest to the challenges are best positioned to design and implement the solutions, so we equip locally rooted leaders with communications and advocacy training to drive change in their community. Fellows learn to write opinion pieces, devise advocacy plans, conduct interviews, and establish a social media presence to position themselves as experts. Using the Aspen Global Innovators vast experience and influential network, the fellowship prepares fellows to lead from a place of lived and learned experience as they cultivate healthy communities.

As one of Oklahoma’s premier Federally Qualified Health Centers, Community Health Connection is a patient-centered, community-based primary care practice located in Tulsa, Oklahoma, that provides high-quality care to all patients regardless of their ability to pay. Federally qualified health centers exist to serve those who have limited access to care by reducing barriers such as cost, lack of insurance, transportation, and language. Unlike most private practices, FQHCs welcome all community members, whether insured, uninsured/under-insured, or low-income. Community Health Connection patients have access to a wide range of affordable services under one roof—including medical, dental, behavioral health, and on-site pharmacy. With most staff being fully bilingual in Spanish, CHC is also uniquely prepared to meet the needs of its LatinX community members.
