As part of my time on GMTS, I will be undertaking 3 placements across HR, Wellbeing, and Resourcing. I will also be completing a PGCert in Healthcare Leadership (Elizabeth Garrett Anderson program) from the University of Birmingham and a PGDip in Human Resource Management from De Montfort University.Please see below for details of each of my placements.

Dudley Group Nhs Foundation Trust

This placement at the Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust was undertaken as my flexi placement as part of the NHS Graduate Management Training Scheme (GMTS). As part of the scheme, trainees are given the opportunity to choose a different organisation to work at for an 8-week placement. I chose the Dudley Group to gain experience within and acute NHS Trust. I chose to work in the Wellbeing department due to my passion for supporting staff health and wellbeing.During this placement I worked closely with the Wellbeing Business Partner, producing resources to aid staff wellbeing including information on wellbeing walks, menopause resources, and food bank flyers. I also helped to develop the comms plan and resources for October and November, as well as producing the monthly staff newsletter. Within this placement I also supported the Wellbeing Business Partner in the development of the Wellbeing strategy for the Trust, helping to pull together information on local demographics. I also shadowed the facilitation of staff wellbeing sessions including a self-care session for student nurses, paramedics, and physiotherapists. During this placement, I also worked alongside the Organisational Development department, helping to increase staff survey response rate. I produced project plans and used these to lead the implementation of initiatives to increase uptake. I measured response rates against targets on a twice weekly basis and used this to feed decision making.

Black Country Healthcare

In my first placement on GMTS I worked at Black Country Healthcare as a Senior HR Advisor within the Operational HR Team. During this placement I built up and managed my own caseload of employee relations issues ranging from sickness absence to disciplinary/grievance investigations and ill health retirements. I also helped to support with change management projects and helped to implement policies across the Trust. I produced regular reports on workforce metrics and performance and fed these back to senior managers. Within this placement, I worked regularly alongside trade union representatives in all aspects of employee relations.
