About Leah Charash
I help policy makers and resource managers make informed, strategic decisions to ensure that our most valuable environmental assets are protected, and that opportunities and resources remain accessible to a diverse population. I use data visualization to communicate complex findings in a way that is meaningful to subject matter experts, and digestible to decision makers and the public at large. Having been raised amid the beautiful landscapes of Vermont, I have a deeply rooted appreciation for the natural world. My dedication to environmental stewardship led me to Lehigh University’s interdisciplinary honors program, an Integrated Degree in Engineering, Arts, and Sciences (IDEAS) with concentrations in Environmental Engineering and Sustainable Development. While my undergraduate studies heightened my environmental interests, I also grew to recognize that preservation of our physical environment is not the only cause worth fighting for; my mission broadened to include ensuring equitable access to healthy ecosystems and the benefits of development as I pursued a Master’s in Environmental Policy with a concentration in Urban Planning. Along with my driving passions of environmentalism and social justice, my interests include anything that gets me outside and active in nature. I am also a huge fan of strategy games such as Backgammon, and Settlers of Catan, and believe that the best way to get to know someone is to share a conversation over a cup of tea and friendly game.
