As a Policy Trainee at Neth-ER, I contributed to representing Dutch interests in education, research, and innovation at the EU level. I monitored and analyzed European policy developments, wrote reports, and organized meetings and events. This traineeship provided a unique opportunity to gain in-depth knowledge of EU policymaking and practical experience in a dynamic and international environment.

As the Dutch Youth Representative European Affairs, I gave lectures and organized events to engage with young people, hear their opinions on various topics, and inform them about their democratic rights. I brought their input to conferences and summits to advocate for future-proof policies.Examples of conferences I participated in:- The European Youth Dialogue: Participated in the European Youth Conferences during the Council Presidencies of Slovenia, France, the Czech Republic, Sweden, and Spain.- European Youth Forum: Engaged with the largest European platform for National Youth Councils and International Non-Governmental Youth Organizations, to decide upon internal and external policies.- Conference on the Future of Europe: Served as the National Citizens’ Representative for the Netherlands, appointed by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs.- 5th European Education Summit: Participated in a high-level panel and dialogue with the EU Youth Coordinator.Examples of activities and events I organized:- Brussels by Bike: Cycled from Groningen to Brussels, consulting over 800 Dutch young people on climate, self-development, citizenship and democracy, and inclusion. - Dialogue Dinners ‘praatdiner’: Facilitated informal conversations – and the exchange of views – between young people, policymakers and experts on current themes.- EyoU: Organized visits to EU institutions in Brussels for Dutch young people to foster a better understanding of the EU.- Europe Direct Curacao: Established a partnership with Europe Direct Curacao to promote youth participation in the Caribbean part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, including a visit to guide their EU Youth Sounding Board.

As a member of the Working Group on European Affairs, I contributed to the creation and implementation of projects and lectures to involve young people in European politics.

Appointed by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, but with an independent mandate, I served as the National Citizens' Representative for the Netherlands at the Conference on the Future of Europe.The Conference on the Future of Europe was the largest event in EU history focused on citizen participation. Nationally, I conducted the 'Kijk op Europa' research with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to understand Dutch perspectives on the nine themes of the conference. Internationally, I shared the results of 'Kijk op Europa' with various stakeholders and during plenary sessions and working groups at the European Parliament in Strasbourg. I participated in the Working Group ‘Stronger Economy, Social Justice, and Jobs’.

Together with six other students, I organized fundraising events for UNICEF The Netherlands, fulfilling the position of chairperson.
