Charleston is a place that brings people together to engage with art and ideas.The modernist home and studio of the painters Vanessa Bell and Duncan Grant, Charleston was a gathering point for some of the 20th century’s most radical artists, writers and thinkers known collectively as the Bloomsbury group. It is where they came together to imagine society differently and has always been a place where art and experimental thinking are at the centre of everyday life.Today, we present a dynamic year-round programme of exhibitions, festivals, and events. We believe in the power of art, in all its forms, to provoke new ways of thinking and living.As Communications Manager, I develop and deliver high-quality, audience-centred communications strategies to reach new audiences and engage with our communities. I support the whole programme of activity at Charleston including the house, garden, exhibitions, festivals and events programme via storytelling and data-driven approaches to communications campaigns.

I create and share inspiring, inclusive and innovative content to raise Charleston’s profile and drive audience engagement. I manage Charleston’s digital platforms and social channels and develop Charleston’s editorial standards, guidelines and commissioning approach, creating and managing accessible master content and publication schedules. I also manage Charleston’s website to build communities and achieve audience and income targets that support the wider organisational strategic aims.I source, commission and create digital content for use on Charleston’s website and social media channels to ensure the organisation is engaging, responsive and dynamic. I work with the Marketing and Communications Manager to develop elements of integrated campaigns for Charleston’s house and studio, exhibitions, festivals, events, retail and venue hire strands of activity. I use audience data and research to evaluate the success of Charleston’s digital output, including reporting to and working with the ambitious marketing, communications and digital teams to deliver high-quality, audience-centred digital content and experiences for Charleston’s existing and new audiences, online and in-person.

Lewes Railway Land Wildlife Trust is a small, agile charity bringing nature and community together – to benefit both. Based on a local nature reserve in the heart of Lewes with a wonderful eco-building designed to support life-long learning. The Trust collectively delivers and leads 'nature with community' projects;including ecologists, lifelong learning and community engagement practitioners. Project work includes practical conservation and habitat creation, young people engagement and support, traditional crafting, wildlife discovery, wellbeing in nature walks, school visits, holiday clubs and much more. Lewes Railway Land aims to bring about a culture shift in our relationship with nature and how we link human and natural resilience in the face of the climate crisis.

Outside In is an established national charity that aims to provide a platform for artists who face significant barriers to the art world due to health, disability, social circumstance or isolation. Outside In has engaged with more than 5,000 artists traditionally excluded from the mainstream art world, reached a quarter of a million audience members and gained more than 80 partner organisations nationally. It has held more than 50 exhibitions to date and now provides opportunities and support for more than 2,600 artists. My role involves working across digital and social media channels to develop original content and suggest creative ways to attract new audiences to attend Outside In's core exhibitions, including The National and Alan Payler's 'Under A Blue Sky' exhibition. Main outcomes involve increasing web traffic, creating more audience engagement, and crafting innovative marketing and audience development and engagement strategies.
